Stacey Bendet, the fabulous designer behind Alice + Olivia exhibited her classic chic and feminine spirit in her Fall 2013 collection yet jazzed it up with a dash of romance and 90′s rock and roll. The pieces ranged from punchy plaids, knee-highs, quilted leather and knitted fur to romantic and exotic lace, feathers and brocade. Bendet envisions an Alice + Olivia girl as a “cool, clever, free spirit wandering the streets of Paris” in apparel that is both whimsical and funky.

Keeping in harmony with Bendet’s vision, Antonio Corral Calero, Moroccanoil Artistic Director, constructed Heidi-esque romantic braids, which also enabled onlookers to focus on the intricate handiwork that went into the designs. This style was a perfect way to achieve the look of edgy innocence. First, hair was treated with Moroccanoil Treatment to condition the hair and make it glossy. This was followed by spraying Moroccanoil Heat Styling Protection to protect the hair from the heat of the blow dryer and keep it in place.

Then Moroccanoil Volumnizing Mousse was utilized before blowdrying the hair straight. To make these braids on your own, make a center part and pull your hair to the front so it falls on both sides of your shoulders. Make two wide, loose braids and cross them in opposite directions on your head. Bring the ends of the braids to the top of your head and secure the hair with pins. To get the same revamped milkmaid look, be sure not to braid too tight and let loose hairs drape down.

Since the collection was a stunning mix of rich color tones and sumptuous fabrics, the makeup needed to be bold enough to standout, but subtle enough not to take away from the clothing. Fair, matte skin and a glossy oxblood lip were perfected for this romantic renaissance look. Led by Celebrity Makeup Artist Sarah Lucero, the Stila Cosmetics makeup team worked to create this look, specifically using Stila In The Light Eyeshadow Palette to execute a glittery gold leafy eye for a luxurious effect that catches the light and a mixture of Stila Lip Glazes in Berry, Black Cherry, Strawberry and Cranberry.

Alice + Olivia aficionados of all walks of the fashion world enjoyed an opulent scene of damask backdrops, dangling jazz instruments, chandeliers dripping in crystal, and as a homage to the ’90′s- the upbeat tracks blasting from the Clueless soundtrack. Guests included avid fashionistas and bloggers to A-list celebrities such as Vanessa Hudgens, Katharine McPhee and the Carrie Diaries’ AnnaSophia Robb. Attendees were invited to soak up the lavishness by indulging on macrons and cakepops, all the while sipping on Moet.  Bendet’s collection for Fall 2013 is sure to be a success in excess.
