hey, hey! gorgeous backstage with Marissa Webb
Marissa Webb’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week featured tailored, fitted pieces with feminine, chic undertones. We loved her juxtaposition of polished lines and shapes with more feminine skirts and dresses.
Originally a tomboy, Webb’s collection shows the best of both worlds – tweed blazers, fitted pantsuits, longer, more conservative shorts, chic shift dresses, and leather skirts. Our favorite item was a leather short sleeve pullover lined with faux fur, perfectly warm, yet gorgeous. Webb played with different fabrics, from tweed, to leather, to jeweled embellishments. Her line featured electric red leather pants, high neck tops, cool collars, and a fitted leather jacket. Of course, the models rocked her tailored knee length wool coats and gorgeous shoes, all featuring ankle straps and worn with stockings. We love her use of ascots and layers, a perfect way to stay warm in the fall/winter.
To get her look, Maybelline make up artist Charlotte Willer went for a super natural, polished and chic look that was both masculine yet feminine. To make sure the make up didn’t overpower the collection, they used Fit Me Foundation and Fit Me Powder, applied using their hands for a very natural look. On the eyes, the artists used Master Drama Liner in dark brown and put on using their fingers for a soft, smoky feel. To top it all off, they used Volum’ Express Mega Plush Mascara, Fit Me Blush, and Color Sensational Lip Color dabbed on. As for nails, the artists went with some models wearing burgundy and gold, and others white and black polish, all done by Honey for Maybelline.
Teamed up with the Garnier Fructis team, the models rocked a modern take on the Veronica Lake curl, brushed out at the ends. Tommy Buckett for Garnier Fructis decided to go for a severe deep side part, starting by curling the hair and brushing it out. The stylists pushed all the hair over to one side, with some models with their hair tucked into coats and capes. To start off, the team used a 1 inch curling iron, leaving the ends out to avoid too much curl. Next, they used a bristle brush to brush it out and added their new 3-In-1 Oil to add luxurious shine, and topped it all off with hairspray to accomplish this sexy look.
We loved Webb’s gorgeous collection that was made ready to wear for any woman. Her black, white, and grey tones are perfect for the modern but classic, chic woman. Webb’s collection also featured statement pieces that definitely popped – a green and purple mini dress, electric blue trousers, and fuschia shorts. Marissa Webb showed us today that you can be one of the boys, yet still stay sexy.
